The fancier answer is that improv is the creation of live theatre and comedy without aid of scripts, plans or rehearsal.
Improv can take the form of shorter games and sketches, or form the foundation for full-length shows.
Improv is the most exciting form of live theatre there is – improvisers write, direct, perform and edit their entire show on the spot in front of your very eyes!
That’s not to say the performers are just winging it. In order to reach the point where they feel confident in delivering an entire performance off the top of their own heads, improvisers all around the world practice and hone their skills in the same way athletes train for a big race.
